How perfect can a subject be. I started to drive in the old area of Punta Gorda when I happen to look over. Gosh. A huge tree that would give me shade for the day. And, more perfect, I saw shapes of the back side of a cottage. It was easy to park the car and set up. This painting just worked itself in two hours of drawing and putting the watercolor on. It seemed to paint itself. Hearing my friends voice in my head saying, do not lick the thing to death. I stopped, took a photo and moved on to the next one.
Cottage Shadows won 2nd place that day and 2nd in another plein air gallery exhibition. It also, won a 2nd in the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society against studio paintings. on my first time to enter it was accepted into AIS online exhibition. There are more exhibitions to enter it in. This was certainly the way to begin the year of 2022.
