Quick Painting in the Rain

I had 2 hours to drive around in the rain to get one more painting completed for the Piqua Plein Air competition in Ohio. 105 minutes left to set up, draw and paint. I made a u turn in the road to a parking spot, fixed the umbrella first, easel and paints with 95 minutes to go. A quick drawing , paint splashed on rough paper and into the car where the heater went on high to dry out the paper. When I got out of the car to frame, three  people stopped to see what I was doing. Through the talk and framing I had minutes to spare to drive to new parking spot, hop out and get two framed paintings hung on the wall under the tent. Being pushed with little time to paint has become a plus to getting a loose painting that is not over worked completed to win an honorable mention. All completed on a day with storm clouds and thunder boomed overhead. Tis is one of my favorite paintings.
